Andrew Tuttle

Andrew Tuttle is a best-kept secret of the Australian musical underground – a songwriter, composer and improviser who has shared stages with Matmos, Forest Swords, Steve Gunn, Ryley Walker, Calexico and many others. Tuttle's music exists serenely and purposefully in a space where the five-string banjo and the six-string acoustic guitar weave in and out of processed electronics. Like time-lapse photography, it unfolds its colours and textures with an astonishing gracefulness and wonderment.

Andrew Tuttle dwells in an in-between world of ambient and folk genre that feels like a community all of its own. Holding a space that is abundant and generous, Tuttle makes outsider music that turns its listeners into insiders — beckoning a journey inwards which unfolds many heart-opening moments along the way.

Following on from 2020's acclaimed 'Alexandra', the early stages of 2021 present 'A Cassowary Apart' - a deeply collaborative, immersive, trans-continental album with London duo Padang Food Tigers.

Tuttle has released four solo studio albums via the Room40 label family, and collaborated with artists including Matmos, Steve Gunn, Lawrence English, Chuck Johnson, Mike Cooper, Padang Food Tigers, Blank Realm, Gwenifer Raymond, Charlie Parr, Dina Maccabee and Cornel Wilczek. His live performances have taken in revered Australian and European spaces including Cafe OTO, Melbourne Recital Centre, The Tivoli, Paradiso Noord, MONA, Botanique, Le Bourg, and Galeria ZDB.
