Tracklib Roundup May

This month we move from Brazilian flips, to soul and rock originals previously also sampled by J. Cole & BROCKHAMPTON. These are some of our favorite new tracks with samples dug up and licensed through the fully revamped Tracklib.

Psalm Trees - fiveyearsago

“This track is dedicated to a time, five years ago, when I got sober from drugs and alcohol in South Africa and the journey I've been on since,” tells Psalm Trees about this soothing and personal track. The Chillhop producer dug up "Invente o Amor" by Brazilian singer Marcelo Cabral, as part of an official collaborative album by Tracklib and the chill beats giants at Chillhop Music. Selected producers from their roster got back to their roots in sampling by digging through the Tracklib vaults, to create the South American-tinged Saudades do Tempo album.

Con Marvelous - Suicide (Prod. ThPharmacy)

Cardo Grandz aka ThPharmacyCardo (of the production team ThPharmacy) perfectly slowed down a 2013 neo-soul track from the Hopestreet Recordings vaults to merge the vocals and horns with his thumping drums. That’s all what Long Island emcee and label head Con Marvelous needed to murder the beat from there...

C.G. - Angels (ft. Guilty Simpson & Rockness Monsta)

New Jersey producer C.G. recently dropped his debut EP, stating what his abbreviated name stands for: Certified Genius. “Angels” is a grimey track about brotherhood, featuring heavyweights Guilty Simpson and Boot Camp Clik’s Rockness Monsta. C.G. sampled a psychedelic track by Jimmy Ledrac, the Swedish platinum producer who was previously sampled by the likes of BROCKHAMPTON and Phantogram.

SØDR - Vai (Oh La La)

Swedish producer SØDR goes all-out Summer with his upbeat track “Vai (Oh La La).” Part of the good vibes come from Brazil, by way of sampling a song by Anna Tréa from São Paulo-based indie label YB Music.

ShvnSinatra - Beauty

Another finger-licking good beat by finger-drumming maniac ShvnSinatra a.k.a. Sir Loop Diggah Jr. For his soulful beat he flipped “Julie,” a 1975 track by The Class-Set—a song J. Cole sampled as well for “The Autograph,” a track on his Friday Night Lights mixtape.
