Barry L. Bastian

Barry L. Bastian is an American guitarist, vocalist and songwriter whose career began in the 1960s San Francisco rock scene. Known as “Barry The Bee,” he co-founded the hard-blues/proto-metal power trio Boogie, a pioneering Bay Area band that combined heavy blues, psychedelia and power-trio intensity. Boogie performed at legendary venues such as the Fillmore and Avalon, sharing bills with acts including Buffalo Springfield and Country Joe & The Fish. Their appearance at the 1968 Sky River Rock Festival remains a highlight of their legacy. Bastian later released solo recordings that continued his distinctive blend of blues, rock and free-spirited songwriting.
