Gonçalo Alegre is a Portuguese multidisciplinary artist—musician, composer, arranger, and producer—born in Mangualde in 1988. Since his teens, he has explored various instruments and musical styles, known for his creative and experimental approach.
Self-taught on several instruments, Gonçalo began formal studies in electric bass at 17 and later pursued classical double bass and jazz at Porto Jazz School and ISEIT in Viseu, earning a degree in Classical Double Bass in 2014. He also studied composition under Filipe Carlos Vieira.
Over his career, he has been involved in multiple projects, including Crying Machine, Sense?, Metamorfose, Apiores, Galo Cant’Às Duas, Burning Casablanca’z, and Gongori.
In 2019, he launched his solo project GONGORI, releasing the debut album Vazio in 2022—a multifaceted work comprising an album, film, book, and art installations exploring the theme of "absence" and its connection to space and human experience.
Gonçalo’s work is marked by an interdisciplinary vision, blending music, cinema, theater, dance, and visual arts in pursuit of new expressive languages.
