João de Sousa Carvalho

João de Sousa Carvalho was a portuguese composer born in Estremoz in 1745. Starting his career at the age of eight, he was protected by the King D. José I who paid his studies in Italy. After returning to Portugal he had several well known students on his own like António Leal Moreira, Marcos Portugal, João José Baldi, João Domingos Bomtempo and the italian singer and composer Giuseppe Toti.
