Gamalon started in Buffalo, New York during the 1960's, when drummer Ted Reinhardt and guitarist Bruce Brucato began playing music together at age 12. By the 70's they were joined by Rick McGirr, Victor Marwin and Bill Ludwig to form Rodan, a prog-rock gem of the local music scene. Rodan folded in 1977 and the members morphed into Gamalon in 1982, with Reinhardt and Brucato joined by George Puleo on lead guitar and Greg Piontek on bass and Chapman Stick. Read more on Last.fm:format(jpg):fill(fff,1)/contentmedia/e83bd67b-38ae-4ea4-bed9-790a77bda160.png)

Aura
In 1976, Aura quickly rose to the top as Hawaii’s preeminent funk band when it secured the most coveted gig in Honolulu’s nightclub scene: a residency at The Point After. Consisting of eight siblings from the Mendoza family of Waipahu, Aura became the first local band ever to play the venue. They kept the gig for ten years. When they got into the studio in 1979, however, the band embraced ideas outside of their usual live act in the spirit of collaboration, absorbing new ideas from drummer Mike Kennedy, saxophonist Bill Popaka, and producer Gary Shimabukuro. The resulting eponymous album is a potent blend of jazz and funk highlighted by their signature sibling sound: an unstoppable horn section and two sisters as lead vocalists.Hot collections

Philly Groove Records was a soul music label started by Stan Watson and Sam Bell in 1967, with noted producer Thom Bell doing A&R. The label's best-known artists were male vocal group, the Delfonics and female group, First Choice. Both acts enjoyed a run of hits during the late 60s and early 70s, especially on the R&B charts. The label also had other artists such as Nat Turner's Rebellion and David Lasley. It, along with Philadelphia International Records, was instrumental in establishing the famed Philadelphia soul sound. The label was distributed by Bell Records from its inception in 1967 until 1974, when the label closed down shortly after Bell Records was folded into Arista Records. In 2012, independent music publisher Reservoir Media Management acquired Philly Groove Records and its sister music publishing company, Nickel Shoe Music. In 2013, Reservoir released its first original record featuring music from the Philly Groove catalog, a compilation of select tracks by The Delfonics called Philly Groove Records Presents: This Time kicking off the album series Philly Groove Records Presents.:format(jpg):fill(fff,1)/contentmedia/9b40895a-8261-446c-bfad-2509645a7ca7.jpg)
