The Love Experiment

The Love Experiment is a future-soul collective led by drummer, composer, and producer Charles “Blvk Samurai” Burchell. Formed in Boston, MA in 2010, the band has performed around the United States and internationally, sharing the stage with artists such as Tank and the Bangas,Talib Kweli, Iman Omari, Carrtoons, Si * Se, Retro Stefson, and many more. The group gained a cult following throughout the Northeast by performing at house parties, art galleries, and venues such as Webster Hall, The Bitter End, Emerson University, Bennington College, Berklee College of Music, and numerous festivals. In addition to performing at well-known venues, the band has a history of throwing secret parties, which have helped them build a niche audience in New York City and Boston. Their sound combines a wide range of diverse musical influences which include J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Sufjan Stevens, Flying Lotus, D’Angelo, Prince, Billie Holiday and Earth Wind and Fire.

Since its inception, The Love Experiment has evolved into a collective of over 20 musicians, producers, and songwriters who have all been committed to finding the next sonic step in R&B, hip-hop, and soul. The Love Experiment’s debut self-titled album, released in 2016, is a multi-layered sonic experience that combines classical, jazz, hip hop, neo-soul, and indie rock to create something at once fresh and nostalgic. A culmination of six years of performing, composing and touring, the record features a phenomenal cast of musicians, vocalists, and producers. Conceptually, the album is about the journey of falling in and out of love, and learning to love again.
