China Record Corporation

A descendent of Pathé Phono-Cinéma-Chine which was founded by Frenchman, E. Labansat in Shanghai in 1908. Renamed Pathé Orient in 1921 when the company expanded and built a new recording studio. In December 1928 the British Columbia Graphophone Company purchased Pathé Frères, Pathé Orient 's French parent company, and took over Pathé Orient 's properties in Shanghai in 1930. Manufacturing plant was named China Record Company Limited , located in the French Concession. The successor entity to the China Record Company, known under this name from 1985 onwards.
