Richard Cherenkov

Richard Cherenkov is a music producer, composer and sound designer from Riga, Latvia, and the founder of ThaLoops. He started out on the cello and went on to earn a master's degree in ethnomusicology from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, a background that still shows in the authentic world and ethnic sounds he is known for today.

Richard has been producing electronic music and samples since 2004, including several years as a sound designer for ModernBeats. As a producer and composer, his work has reached the UK Top 40, the UK Download Top 40 and the Billboard charts, while samples and loops he designed have appeared on top-selling albums such as Timbaland's Shock Value and Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D.

He has designed sounds for Arturia's Analog Lab series and Hip Hop Producer, and through ThaLoops his clients have included leading producers such as Mick Schultz (Jeremih, Rihanna), Fred Rister (David Guetta), Jimmy Joker (RedOne, Usher) and DJ Lethal of House of Pain. He is also an endorsed artist with Native Instruments and PreSonus.

Today Richard personally curates and produces every ThaLoops release, blending his academic background and studio experience into sounds built for hip hop, R&B and pop producers.
