Frequently Asked Questions
What is considered a sample in music?
Any slice of an existing recording reused in a new track, from one drum hit to a whole vocal line.
Where can I find free samples?
The Sounds library is royalty-free, so its loops, one-shots and FX carry no revenue share and no clearance step at all. Songs work on a different model, since those are original master recordings owned by labels and publishers.
How do I use Tracklib samples in my own tracks?
Download the WAV or the stems, then chop, pitch and arrange them in your DAW like any other audio. Register your track and its sample usage under Your Licenses before it goes public. The same applies before you openly pitch or sell a beat built on a sample.
Do I need permission from the artist or label to sample a record?
No. Terms are agreed with the rightsholder before a record enters the catalog, which is why clearance takes minutes and not months.
What happens to my licenses if I cancel?
Any license you already hold stays active, so releases built on Tracklib samples stay covered after your plan ends. You can also license new songs from tracks you downloaded earlier. The one condition is keeping to the rest of the agreement, including reporting and paying the revenue share at least every six months.
Which DAWs does it work with?
Any music production software that reads WAV files, so Ableton, FL Studio, Logic and Pro Tools all handle it. The desktop app syncs downloads straight into your project. The Connect Plugin goes further and puts the catalog inside the DAW window.
