About Statik Selektah

New York-based, Massachusetts-raised producer and DJ Statik Selektah is no stranger to flipping samples and reworking tracks.

Introduced to music at a young age, experimenting with his parents' eight-track machine, cassette recorders, and turntable, he was inspired to become a professional DJ after hearing DJ Premier & Funkmaster Flex scratch and mix records on Hot 97. Through his many mixtapes, uncountable DJ gigs, and multiple radio shows - Statik Selektah's reputation grew quickly. This allowed him to champion several fellow New England hip-hop talents and introduce them to the East-Coast, most notably Termanology.

By the late 2000s, Statik Selektah had gone full circle by collaborating with his initial inspiration DJ Premier on 'The Bar Exam' mixtape. His radio shows were playing all over the world, he produced beats for the likes of G-UnitAZ, and Joell Ortiz, and most importantly he dished out tons of mixtapes with the likes of NasQ-TipJohn LegendRoyce da 5'9", and Saigon. Statik Selektah has continued on this path: releasing several productions of his own, bringing forth upcoming artists, whilst working with some of the biggest established artists in hip-hop as well.

With outstanding production techniquesa refined sound, and a well-honed sampleflipping style, this is a unique opportunity to stand behind the DJ Booth and watch the process of the renowned Statik Selektah.
