Adam Mickiewicz

Adam Mickiewicz (December 24, 1798 – November 26, 1855) was a Polish poet, political writer and activist of the Romantic era. He is a national poet of Poland, and is regarded as one of the greatest poets in all of Polish and European literature.

His family name is roughly pronounced Mits-KYEV-itch in English.
