Alfredo Linares is a celebrated Peruvian pianist, composer, arranger and bandleader known for his influential role in Latin music, especially salsa and tropical genres. He began formal studies at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música at age 10 and mastered multiple instruments, including piano, percussion and horns. In the 1960s he recorded boogaloo and Afro-Latin jazz, later embracing salsa and producing numerous albums. Linares worked with notable orchestras across Latin America and toured Europe, the United States and Latin America, helping shape salsa’s sound.
