Artist
Renowned for her work across Japanʼs music scene, violinist Aya Ito presents her long-awaited debut album “Zero no Jōgi”, released on Ryota Nozaki (Jazztronik)ʼs label, Musilogue.
Blending classical, jazz, and pop influences, the album offers a colorful range of string textures ̶ all performed and multi-tracked by Ito herself on violin and viola. The result is a truly original sound, redefining what strings can express in a contemporary context.
Born in Düsseldorf in 1980 and raised in Germany until the age of ten, Ito channelled her creativity during the pandemic, composing and recording solo while live performances were suspended. Some tracks incorporate field recordings from her daily life at the time, giving the album a unique "diary of sound" quality.
In addition to her solo work, Ito is a sought-after session musician with credits alongside Jazztronik, Goro Ito, Tomoyo Harada, Ohashi Trio and more. Her broad musical experience and deep artistry resonate throughout this rich and expressive debut.
