El Álamo was a Peruvian psychedelic rock band formed in the late 1960s. Emerging in Huacho from the group Los Youngers and later based in Lima, the line-up featured Tino Pow Sang, Arturo Montenegro, Luis Iturry and Ricardo Allison. Influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Santana and The Allman Brothers, they recorded their only album, “Malos pensamientos”, in 1971 at El Virrey Studios, with an average age of just 20. Although El Álamo disbanded soon after, the record has since become a cult classic, celebrated as a cornerstone of Peruvian rock and a defining expression of the country’s early psychedelic movement.
