For over 50 years, Victor Marshall has been bringing African American drumming traditions to life. ​Victor’s journey began at the age of 16 when he was inspired to learn more about his African roots while studying West African drumming under master drummers like YaYa Diallo, Victor formed the jazz fusion group Febop. Victor also pursued the study of the balafon, a traditional African xylophone-like instrument, through a New Jersey State Council of the Arts Folk Arts Apprenticeship grant.
