Marie Celeste

Marie Celeste was a folk group from Wolverhampton, England, named after the legendary ghost ship. Formed in the late 1960s by childhood friends Brian Lindop and Jon Tame, the band evolved through several line-up changes before settling on the name Marie Celeste in 1971. Their only album, And Then Perhaps, was recorded live in a few short hours and self-released in a tiny pressing of just 200 copies, making it a rare treasure among collectors. The band was known for their rich vocal harmonies, original songwriting, and sensitive arrangements of contemporary folk covers. Despite promising local success and radio appearances, the group disbanded in early 1972, leaving behind a single, hauntingly beautiful album that captures a brief but brilliant moment in British folk history.
