Bass Samples
Bass reaches you from outside a club before anything else on the record does. Low frequencies pass through walls that stop everything above them, so a root note and a kick locked together are all anyone hears from the street.
Move one bass note under a held chord and the chord changes name. Play the same line a sixteenth behind the kick and the track drags, push it ahead and the whole thing hurries.
James Jamerson cut most of Motown's catalog with one finger and a set of flatwounds he refused to change. Larry Graham slapped and popped to fill in for a missing drummer. Aston Barrett tracked reggae lines low enough to push the melody up above them. Bass guitar samples from sessions like those keep the finger noise, the flatwound thud, and whatever the amp added on the way to tape.
Moog bass turned up under funk records in the early seventies, the 303 got misused into acid a decade after that, and the 808's long-tuned sub is still underneath most of what trap puts out. Jungle and dub built entire sound systems around weight below 60 Hz, and bass music samples from those scenes arrive with the sub already doing the work.
Upright walks, DI'd Precision lines, dub weight and synth patches share one catalog here, most of them with stems so the bass lands on its own channel. Royalty-free bass loops are one click away from all of it. We agree terms with the label or producer who owns each recording before it reaches the site, so the bass samples you download are the original takes and can be yours to release.
